‘That Girl’
By: Erin
I would
wonder “Why am I not like ‘that girl’?”
She is so
pretty, tall, thin and tan
I’m sure she
is always smart
I’m sure she
is ideal
I would
wonder “Why am I not like ‘that girl’?”
She is so
gorgeous blonde, bold, and beautiful
I’m sure she
is always funny
I’m sure she
is faultless
I would
wonder “Why am I not like ‘that girl’?”
She is so
fashionable, fabulous, and fantastic
I’m sure she
is always graceful
I’m sure she
is perfect
I no longer
wonder “Why am I not like ‘that girl’?”
Yes she is
attractive, amazing, and awesome
Yes I’m sure
she is always kind
But I’m also
sure she is not real
For ‘that
girl’ exists only my mind
She is a
figment of my imagination
Created in
an effort to foster self hatred
But I will not
compare myself to ‘that girl’ or ‘any girl’
for we all
possess each of the things above
In our own
way
We all have
value beyond our looks or our brains
And no one
is perfect
For without
Christ we’re all covered in stains
